“I’m fairly new to Strada. When I was looking for a new role, I did quite a lot of research on brands I wanted to work for, as it was not just about salary. Strada stood out with its fresh food and authentic Italian feel. I liked the ambience and the team looked happy. At the interview I was made to feel like a person, not a candidate, and it felt welcoming and honest.
After my induction I spent first two weeks in the kitchen understanding the menu, which was great, and then I was trained on the Front of House the service learning how to do things “the Strada way”. Once it was all reviewed I progressed to the business management training on forecasts, budgets, health and food safety, service measures, financial audits. I also had lots of assistance from other managers and the Support Centre team. I learned so much in a short time.
Strada has already given me more autonomy that other brands and real ownership. I can use my own judgement to take advantage of different marketing opportunities. There’s no such thing as a ‘daft’ question so you feel free to come up with new ideas and you learn lots on the job. My area manager is clear, decisive and very supportive. There is also a great support network and you get recognised for your achievements.

“I joined Strada just over three years ago as a runner. Very soon I became a waitress, then was given team trainer responsibilities, then progressed to Junior Supervisor and now I am an Assistant Manager.
The training has been great. When I joined, I worked at the restaurant which was one of Strada’s “Centres or Excellence”. We get plenty of on-the- job training and we also get training folders to complete which help to progress with the training and to get signed off by your manager. In addition, when I was promoted to Assistant Manager, I had lots of business training – financials, employee relations, interviews, business planning.
In all that time I was also given great support on personal level which made me want to contribute even more. At Strada if you put your mind to it and show what you can do you will be given opportunity to learn, develop your skills and progress.
I was very proud to receive an award at a recent annual team awards ceremony which was presented to me by the Chief Operating Officer. It was amazing as I did not expect it at all. It makes the work all worthwhile.”

“I have been at Strada as Head Chef for two years and have recently been awarded ‘Head Chef of the Year 2014’.
Strada is all about the food. I am in charge of training and developing all chefs in the area to ensure that dishes we serve are great quality every time. I work extremely well with my General Manager. We both get great satisfaction when we can make our guests really happy.
As I was given additional responsibilities for the area I also have regular meetings with my Area Manager and Chief Operating Officer to make sure we constantly review how we can improve things moving forward.
Our passion for food and service to me is the most important thing. We go back to great basics as to what serving the best food is really about.

“I have been working at Strada for 7 years;
I’m involved in everything that keeps a good kitchen going, including managing food orders, organising the deliveries, and putting the kitchen in order so it is ready for the team. This does mean there is a lot of focus on food hygiene, which I am very proud of as we have the highest score of five stars.
I have always found Strada a very open and friendly place to work. The management is very professional and has a good relationship with the team. It is a home away from home as everyone is like family.

“I used to be a regular guest at Strada in Sheffield, so when a job became available I went for it. The restaurant is in an amazing area and on a Saturday night you can’t beat the atmosphere here and the food is amazing too.
The training for Supervisors is very good. We get on job training with a General Manager when we learn Strada standards. We also get management training, learning business skills such as forecasts, P&L, business reviews and others; after all we are the future managers of the business!
My working day is very varied. I start by checking the sales for the previous evening, check guests’ feedback looking for opportunities to improve and brief the team. The most important thing is to make sure that the team is happy, as they’re the first people that our guests meet.
Marketing is one of my passions and my Area Manager and General Manager gave me the responsibility for local marketing for my region. Working at Strada has given me opportunities to do something I love which I don’t think you find elsewhere. It is really inspiring.”

“A friend told me about working at Strada and what a great team there was, so I joined just over a year ago as a waitress.
My day usually starts with a good briefing from the General Manager on bookings for the day and learning what the specials are. You then get your section and are all ready to start serving guests.
It’s great getting to know lots of people and attend to their needs. Getting good feedback from the guests is what makes it so satisfying and I work with a fantastic team. My Assistant Manager is always very supportive – which is a real help when it’s very busy.
I think it’s the quality of service and the fresh food that makes Strada restaurants so great.”
